DALLAS – SMU men's tennis travels to Winston Salem, N.C. this weekend to participate in an ITA kickoff tournament at Wake Forest. The Mustangs will take on Notre Dame Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT before facing either Wake Forest or Michigan on Saturday (1:00 p.m. CT). The Mustangs currently stand at 3-1 for the season.
SMU last faced Notre Dame in 2013. Facing the Fighting Irish, the Mustangs are 3-7 all time. Friday will be the first time these two teams compete with each other on a neutral court.
Sophomores Adam Neff and Liam Krall are each on three match winning streaks in singles. Krall is 3-0 in dual singles and 2-0 in dual doubles so far this season. He has been primarily playing No. 2 singles, while Neff plays No. 3.
SMU lost an extremely close 4-3 match to Texas Tech this past weekend.
ABOUT NOTRE DAME
The Fighting Irish are currently 2-0 on the season. Their victories both came against Saint Louis in doubleheader dual matches on January 16th. The Fighting Irish did not drop any sets in either of these matches. Due to three postponements, they have not played since.
SATURDAY PREVIEW
SMU will face either No. 10 Wake Forest or No. 17 Michigan in their second match of the weekend. The Demon Deacons are 7-1, having just lost to top ranked Tennessee on Tuesday. The Wolverines are 2-0 entering the tournament.

Mustangs On Tour
Four SMU men's tennis players have been invited to make their ATP Tour debuts at the Dallas Open February 6-13. Caleb Chakravarthi and Liam Krall were awarded wild card singles spots, while Adam Neff and Ivan Thamma were offered a spot in the doubles main draw. The player field at the Open will include four top-30 in the world athletes including the likes of John Isner, Taylor Fritz, Grigor Dimitrov, and Reilly Opelka.
Fall Titles
SMU won a number of tournaments this fall. Former AAC Freshman of the Year Liam Krall took the singles title at the Lakes Collegiate Invitational. Senior Captain Caleb Chakravarthi won singles and doubles along with Julian Steinhausen at the Islander Invite.
