CINCINNATI (SMU) – No. 6 SMU defeated No. 3 Cincinnati by a 1-0 count in the American Athletic Conference quarterfinal at Gettler Stadium on Sunday.

The Mustangs broke the scoreless tie in the 70
th minute when
Julissa Cisneros created an opportunity but was held back by the Bearcat defender, resulting in a
Courtney Sebazco penalty kick. Sebazco converted on the left side of the net to put the Mustangs on the board and earn her fourth goal of the season.
SMU (9-3-5, 3-3-2 AAC) earned its seventh clean sheet of the year. The Mustang defense has allowed just 12 goals this season, holding opponents to one or no scores in 15 of their 17 matches.

Tatum Sutherland was in goal for the Mustangs, recording four saves on 11 faced shots. Sutherland has only allowed eight goals in 821 minutes played this season.
