DALLAS (SMU) – On Thursday, the SMU Equestrian team fell in to TCU in a closely-decided 9-9, 1,528.5-1,503.0 raw-score tiebreaker at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
With the Mustangs holding a 9-8 edge as the day's events neared a close, the Horned Frogs claimed the final point in the Reining arena, forcing the tiebreaker which fell to TCU by just 25.5 points.
The Mustangs (7-5, 4-1 ECAC) claimed their sixth-straight Horsemanship win with a 3-2 performance in the event over the Horned Frogs (6-5, 0-3 Big XII). Senior

Hensley Humphries, and junior
Lily Anderson each claimed Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honors for the day's meet.
Flat
In the Jumping Seat arena, SMU and the Horned Frogs tied the opening event at 2-2 off of wins from Humphries and graduate senior
Madi Johnson.
Humphries, in her first career MOP performance, earned a season-high 89.5 points to claim her point. The win improves her record to 4-0 on the season. Johnson's 78.5-76 win in the Flat over TCU's Wynne Weatherby is her third consecutive.
Sophomore
Taylor Madden's record moves to 7-1-1 following a 72-point tie against TCU's Jacey Albaugh. Madden remains without a loss since the Mustangs hosted No. 2 Georgia on Oct. 30.
Horsemanship
In Horsemanship, the Mustangs edged out TCU, claiming a 3-2 win and giving SMU a 5-4 halftime lead.
Anderson's 75-74 MOP showing against her TCU opposition was her fifth-straight win, elevating her season record to 5-4. Anderson has won three of the last four Horsemanship MOPs, contributing to Mustangs winning the last five-straight MOPs in the category.
NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Year
Nya Kearns' 75-72.5 win was her sixth-straight, improving her record to 9-1-1.
Mallory Vroegh's 77.5-point performance proved an event high, as the senior defeated TCU's Giorgia Medows to win her fifth-consecutive competition. At 9-2, Vroegh has not lost a match since Nov. 4
th at UC Davis.
Reining
Graduate senior
Jill Pfisthner earned a 73.5-73-point win over TCU's Madyson Buchanan, giving her a 5-5-1 record on the year.
Maria Richards, with her third-straight win in the Reining arena on the season, improves her record to 4-3.
Junior
Taylor Zimmerman's 72.5-point tie against Horned Frog Shea Graham puts her record at 5-5-1. Zimmerman has not lost in the Western ring since traveling to UC Davis on Nov. 4.
Fences
SMU fell 3-2 in the day's second Jumping Seat event. The Mustangs' two points belonged to
Alex Pielet and senior
Devin Seek.
In her 86-point performance, Seek overtook TCU's Isabella Baxter to earn her fourth-straight win, improving her record to 8-2-1, earning the First-Team All-American her first MOP of the season.
The Mustangs return to action on March 4
th when they host Sweet Briar at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
Pielet's 80-76 win pushes her season win streak to seven-straight, and season record to 8-3. The junior hasn't lost a matchup since the Mustangs hosted No. 1 Auburn on Oct. 16.
SMU resumes spring competition on March 4 as the Mustangs host Sweet Briar.
No. 6 Mustangs (7-4, 4-1 ECAC) host No. 8 TCU
