ATLANTA (SMU) -
Kendric Davis was one of 30 named to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Thursday.
Davis led the Mustangs with 22 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals in
Wednesday's 85-83 victory over No. 6 Houston at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs are 17-5 overall and have won 14 of the last 16 games. The win over Houston made the Mustangs 12-0 at home and 8-2 in the American Athletic Conference.
For the season, Davis is averaging 19.6 points (1
st AAC, 26
th NCAA), 4.8 assists (3
rd AAC), 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals (11
th AAC) while shooting 45.2% overall (3
rd AAC), 38.4% on threes and 87.6% on free throws (1
st AAC, 37
th NCAA). Davis has a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio (8
th AAC) and is making 2.4 three-pointers per game (7
th AAC).
Davis has also been on the 2021-22 Wooden Award Watch List, Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List, Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List and was a unanimous preseason All-American Athletic Conference First-Team selection. He was named the March Madness National Player of the Week by Andy Katz of NCAA.com and the Lute Olson Award National Player of the Week on January 3.
