DALLAS – Head Coach
Lauren Mason and SMU women's golf are looking forward to kicking off a busy 2022 spring season at the Tulane Classic February 13-15 in New Orleans. Mason took over the program in July 2021 and led the Mustangs to a tournament win at the Badger Invitational in September. Building off of the fall and this first-place finish, the Mustangs have a great opportunity this spring to see how they stack up against a number of top schools from across the country.
SMU's schedule is highlighted by the Mustangs' home tournament, the Trinity Forest Invitational. Mason and the team have been working extremely hard to make this tournament one of the most professionally hosted and competitive contests across the nation. They look to improve upon their 6
th/14 finish from last season.
The Mustang's schedule includes tournaments in Arizona, South Carolina, and Washington. They will enjoy trips to three of Golfweek's Top 200 Modern Courses; Trinity Forest, Caledonia Golf and Fish Club and Chambers Bay Golf Club, the host of the 2015 Men's U.S. Open and the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur.
Mason stated, "Our players did a tremendous job this fall both athletically and academically. They transitioned well back to in-person classes and had a cumulative fall GPA of a 3.68. I am excited to get our team back to campus so we can pick up where we left off this fall and continue the momentum. We have a great spring schedule ahead of us and I am excited to host our home event this March at Trinity Forest Golf Club. We have been busy this offseason planning for our home event to make it one of the best in the nation. This spring will be very busy for us. Our team is determined to perform well throughout our season and advance onto the postseason. I'm excited to see just how far we can go, as our best days are ahead of us."
SMU's strong roster is led by the experience and poise of senior
Kennedy Pedigo. Juniors
Sophie DiGesualdo and
Serena Shah will also be major impact players, having combined for nine top-25 career finishes. Shah's impressive resume already includes nine career par-or-better rounds, a T-3
rd place finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, and three AAC All-Academic selections.
Katie James and
Ashley Chow are also coming off strong fall seasons that they will look to build upon this spring.
