DALLAS – Amidst the excitement of the Dallas Open, SMU will be taking on Texas A&M Corpus Christi in an important mid-season showdown. The match is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on February 13 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex, and will take place just before the Dallas Open singles final at 1:00 p.m. The Mustangs' dual match will not be open to fans until 12:00 p.m. when gates open for the Dallas Open. Tickets can be purchased at dallasopen.com.
SMU currently stands at 3-3, having wins against Prairie View A&M (2-0) and Purdue. The Mustangs lost extremely tight 4-3 matches to both Texas Tech and Notre Dame. SMU has an all-time 4-1 record against Corpus Christi.
Hot Mustangs
Adam Neff has won four singles matches in a row. He is undefeated in singles dual matches this season and has not yet dropped a single set. Liam Krall, primarily playing at the No. 2 spot, is 4-1 in singles dual matches and 3-1 in doubles with partner Julian Steinhausen.
About the Ilanders
Corpus Christi is fresh off a strong 2020-21 season where they finished 19-5 and made the NCAA Championships. They were knocked out of the NCAA tournament in the first round by Baylor, who would eventually lose to Florida in the National Championship. The Islanders come into Sunday's match with a record of 8-2. The Mustangs are 4-1 all-time versus the Islanders.

Mustangs On Tour
Four SMU men's tennis players debuted on the ATP Tour at the Dallas Open in February. Caleb Chakravarthi, Liam Krall, and Adam Neff were all awarded matches in singles, while Neff and Ivan Thamma were given a spot in doubles. The field included three top-30 ranked players in the world including John Isner, Taylor Fritz, and Reilly Opelka. Neff and Thamma came closest to winning their match, as they split sets with Sam Querrey and Jackson Withrow before losing 10-5 on a tiebreak.
Fall Titles
SMU won a number of tournaments this fall. Former AAC Freshman of the Year Liam Krall took the singles title at the Lakes Collegiate Invitational. Senior Captain Caleb Chakravarthi won the singles and doubles title along with Julian Steinhausen at the Islander Invite.
