DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win at Tulsa on Saturday, improving to 3-0 against league opponents and notching its first road win against Tulsa since Feb. 6, 2010.
After falling in a tiebreaker in her opening set,
Jackie Nylander went 6-2, 6-1, clinching both her win over Tulsa's Maria Berlanga, and the Mustangs' team win. Berlanga's defeat marks just her second on line four of the dual season, entering Saturday's competition with a 6-1 record.
Graduate senior
Lexi Keberle extended her singles win streak to five straight, downing Tulsa's Laia Conde Monfort 6-4, 6-1 for just her second loss of the dual season. With the win, Keberle's dual singles record improves to 9-3.
Nicole Petchey's 6-1 and 6-4 wins in her first and third sets handed Tulsa's Lian Benedejcic her first dual singles loss of the year. Benedejcic entered Saturday's contest 6-0 on line six, including dual wins against Purdue, Memphis, and Louisiana Tech.
Junior
Hadley Doyle defeated Shura Poppe 6-0, 6-1, improving her SMU career singles record against Tulsa to 2-0.
Lana Mavor defeated Tulsa's Lily Hutchings 6-3, 6-3. Hutchins had won two of her last three singles matchups and boasted a 6-3 record prior to her loss against Mavor.
Nylander/Doyle remain unbeaten in dual doubles, improving to 4-0 with a 6-4 win over Berlanga/Valeryia Rozenkova, handing them their fourth loss, and first loss to an American Athletic Conference opponent this spring.

Jeff Nevolo praised his team's focus through a tough open to the spring on the way to Saturday's victory:
"I'm really proud of our team for their efforts today," Nevolo said. Â "We've had some tough losses recently, but they've stayed committed and their hard work this week showed in singles." Â
 SMU (8-6, 3-0 AAC) opens the final leg of its two-match road trip on 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tulane.
