No. 14 SMU Hosts Final Home Event Friday And Saturday Against Minnesota

DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 14 SMU rowing team will host Minnesota for the first time Friday and Saturday at White Rock Lake. This is the first dual competition between the two programs.
Racing is slated to begin Friday night at 6 p.m. and Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The final home race of the season for SMU will feature a ceremony to honor the 2021-22 senior class after competition concludes Saturday. Seniors include Victoria Franklin, Ava Gorell, Addison Helton-Illiria, Peyton Matthews, Laura Purvis, Sydney Suntrup and Hallie Wilson, as well as 2021 graduates Jasmine Brake, Colombe de Rovroy, Juliet Traylor and Madison van Meel.
SMU last competed at home against Texas with a strong showing against the top-ranked team in the country, finishing just 4.5 seconds behind the defending national champion in the 1V8+. Minnesota started its season in California against Gonzaga with wins in the 2V8+ and the 1V4 and a second-place finish in the 1V8+.

The White Rock Lake racecourse runs south by southwest from Jackson Point (4311 W Lawther Drive), to the Filter Building adjacent to the boathouse. Recommended viewing sites providing the closest views of the final 500 meters include White Rock Boathouse, the rear of the Filter Building, and the White Rock Lake Trail atop the concrete dam south of the Filter Building.
