The Mustangs make history again in their second outdoor meet of the season with top-10 performances, personal bests and season bests. SMU took on Texas Relays and Texas State this weekend and all Mustangs – from freshman to seniors – had successes. 

"It was an impressive double day of competition from the group," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "Again, there were top-10 performances, PBs, and season bests. It is encouraging to think about and see as we only just opened outdoor season last weekend at TCU!" 

Freshman Emily Waller made her mark in SMU history with a top-10 performance on the first day of competition at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational. She ran a time of 1:02.76 in the 400-meter hurdle race placing her at eighth all time for SMU. 

Another freshman made history on day two during the triple jump competition. Maykayla Jackson is now 9th in SMU's top-10 performances with her jump of 11.76 meters. 

K'Nyah Isaac had her best race of the season in the 400 with a time of 56.54. Whitney Williams ran 54.57 in the race – good enough for fourth among the competition. Williams also ran the 200 where she achieved a new personal best of 24.38 -- sixth in a field of nearly 90 athletes. 

"I'm just happy that my time keeps dropping," Williams said. "I can't complain at all!" 

Raelyn Roberson also had a season best in the 100 at Texas State. She ran a time of 12.03 after jumping at Texas Relays where she placed 8th with a jump of 5.89 meters. 

The Mustangs hope to carry this momentum into the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at San Francisco State next weekend. The distance athletes will race on Thursday and Friday.
