Box Score

DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 43 SMU women's tennis team defeated No. 56 Memphis 4-0 on Monday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex to close out its dual regular season.

The Mustangs' (14-8) win was their third consecutive and fifth against an ITA-ranked opponent, snapping Memphis' four-match win streak and handing the Tigers their first loss on the season to an American Athletic Conference opponent (5-1).

SMU got off to a 1-0 lead with a doubles win, earned on courts two and three by duos Claudia Bartolome/Nicole Petchey and Lexi Keberle/Lana Mavor, who both claimed 7-6 wins to secure the point. Memphis' Alisha Reayer/Camila Soares fought back to erase a four-game deficit at the hands of Bartolome/Petchey, eventually forcing a tiebreak in which the Mustang duo emerged the winner. The match represented the pairs' first dual match and first win of the spring season.

After falling behind 4-1, Keberle/Mavor erased the deficit with three-straight game wins to tie the affair at 4-all, before trading a pair of games with Memphis' Aran Teixido Garcia/Camila Romero to 6-all, and taking the tiebreak to clinching the doubles point hand the Memphis duo their first loss of the spring (5-1). Keberle and Mavor close regular season competition with five-consecutive doubles victories and a 9-3 dual record.

Freshman Drew Morris improved to 4-2 in dual play, defeating Memphis' Monique Woog 6-2 6-2, handing Woog her first loss of the spring on court six (5-1). Morris took a multiple-game lead in both sets before yielding a point to the opposition, and never relinquished the lead. Morris' four dual singles wins were each earned in straight sets.

Junior Hadley Doyle earned her ninth singles victory of the dual season, defeating Camila Romero 6-3, 6-3. Romero, seeking her third consecutive win, was 10-6 entering Monday's match, sporting a 7-3 record on line two.

Graduate senior Claudia Bartolome delivered the fourth, victory-clinching win for SMU with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Memphis' Emily Meyer on court four. Bartolome led 5-4 in her opening set, and earned the set-point off an official's overrule. Bartolome and Meyer traded wins throughout the second set to 4-all, where Bartolome claimed the final two games, securing the 4-0 victory for SMU and ending the match. Bartolome closed her final career match at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex snapping Meyer's four-match win streak, which extended to March 4.

Keberle split set wins on court one with Teixido Garcia and led 1-love in the third before her match was called. Keberle closes her SMU career with a 12-4 dual record.
