The Mustangs currently sit in fourth place at the conclusion of day two due to big performances bringing in big numbers. Funminiyi Olajide claimed first place in the long jump with her jump of 6.48 meters, which is a new SMU school record and stadium record at Wichita State. 

"It feels good to finally win," Olajide said. "I've waited for so long for this. Getting the school record has taught me to be more patient in my season." 

Olivia Dobson continued to dominate on the second day of the heptathlon and, ultimately, achieved second place with 5447 points. A personal best in the 800—a time of 2:22.73 -- secured Dobson her silver medal. She placed second in the Javelin with 38.79 meters. Dobson was fifth in the long jump. 

"I'm very happy to have gotten second," Dobson said. "I ended the day with a PR, which is just what I needed after the javelin and long jump not going as well as I had hoped. I'm glad I didn't let my bad throws get to me, and I went out fighting." 

Steffi Jones came back today to claim a spot in the 800 meter finals after qualifying for the 1500 yesterday. She ran a time of 2:11.00. 

"Tonight was intense, but tomorrow is what it all comes down to," Jones said. "It could be my last track meet, it could not. But no matter what I'm going to score as many points as I can for my team." 

Jessie Crowley picked up three points for the Mustangs in the 3000 Steeplechase with sixth place finish. Senior Cayla Eckenroth placed 11th. 

The Mustangs will return to the track tomorrow for the final day of the AAC Championships.
