Round Two Results
BRYAN, Texas (SMU) – The SMU men's golf team, seeking a bid into the NCAA Championships for its third consecutive season, closed out the second round of the Bryan Regional at five over and in eighth place.
Noah Goodwin carded a team-best, four-under 68 through the second round tying the low score of the day, resulting in a T-4
th finish. With a three-way tie for first at five-under, Goodwin ends the day just one stroke back of the individual lead. Goodwin cleared par-or-better through 16 holes and collected six birdies through the round, vaulting the senior twelve spots in the rankings. Â
Goodwin's 27 pars through the first two rounds is the second most of the field and just one behind Justin Gums' (TCU) 28. Goodwin's four-under on Traditions' par fours is the second lowest score of the field (3.80 avg.), one stroke behind Pepperdine's Joe Highsmith.
Ollie Osborne closed out the round at three-over 75, bringing the junior's 36-hole total to two-over. Through the first two rounds, Osborne's one-under (3.95 avg.) on par fours is the fifth-best figure of the field, while 25 pars is the fourth most.
Sophomore
Nathan Petronzio ended day two at three-over for the day, bringing his tournament total to three-over. Two-under on par fives through the opening two days (4.75 avg.) is the fifth-lowest of the field.
Arizona retained its hold on first place through the second round at 13-under, while a three-way tie formed at five-under in the individual race between Arizona's Christian Banke, Georgia's Trent Phillips, and Texas A&M's William Paysse, with Goodwin just trailing at four-under.Â
The Mustangs will play the final day paired with Tennessee and Michigan State, with
Justin Thompson opening the round for SMU at hole one at 8:25 a.m.
