Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 23 Mustangs Play to 1-1 Draw at No. 11 Tennessee

Box Score

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (SMU) – The No. 23 SMU women's soccer team tied No. 11 Tennessee, 1-1, at Regal Soccer Stadium on Sunday.

Freshman Peyton Annen delivered her first career goal in the 41st minute to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead heading into the break. A Courtney Sebazco free kick from outside the box was found off the head of Annen and placed high-right to score the opening goal of the match.
Hermann Trophy Watch List candidate Sebazco closed opening week for the Mustangs with one goal (game winner versus Rice on Aug. 18) and an assist.

Goalkeeper Samantha Estrada logged nine saves on 25 shots faced, one short of tying a career high set against Memphis on Oct. 28, 2021.

Tennessee's Jaida Thomas scored the equalizer in the 61st minute in a front-of-the-net scramble off a Hannah Zaluski corner kick.

Graduate Senior Julissa Cisneros, in the last 20 minutes of play, took two shot attempts, both of which respectively found the right post and crossbar, falling just short of a game-winning goal.

Five Mustangs took shots at the Lady Vols' net, with graduate senior Jewel Bolland leading the attack. The veteran forward posted eight shots, two of which were on frame.

The Mustangs (1-0-1) return to Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium on Aug. 28 to host the Northwestern State Lady Demons at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
