IRVING, Texas (SMU/The American) – Knut Ahlander was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Freshman Nikola Djordjevic earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.
Ahlander earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in 2022, recording his third multigoal performance of the year against FIU Friday in Dallas.
With the match tied at one apiece, Ahlander found the back of the net in the 22nd minute, scoring on the left side of the goal to regain SMU's lead. The AAC's leading goal scorer put the finishing touches on the match with a shot from around the midfield line over the FIU keeper playing up in the box to earn Ahlander his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 79th minute.
Nikola Djordjevic put together an impressive performance to earn a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Djordjevic anchored the Mustang defense in Friday's victory, adding a career and team-high three assists. Djordjevic has four assists on the season.
