IRVING, Texas (SMU/The American) - Cole Johnson has been named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time this season, with Niv Berkovitz earning Offensive Player of the Week honors. Kyran Chambron Pinho also earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
The AAC's honors released on Oct. 16 follow a 3-0 home win for No. 6 SMU over FAU on Saturday, keeping the Mustangs undefeated (4-0-1) in conference play.
Berkvoitz scored two goals in the Mustangs' win over FAU, one at the 11th minute — assisted by AAC leading scorer Jelldrik Dallmann — and another at the 56th minute off Pinho's cross from inside the box.
Johnson secured his sixth shutout of the season against FAU, tallying one save in the Mustangs' win over the Owls.Â
Berkovitz's two goals against FAU came after scoring one goal SMU's previous game against No. 25 FIU.
The Mustangs begin a two-game road stretch on Saturday against Tulsa, followed by another road contest versus UAB. SMU returns to Washburne Stadium for its final regular season home match against Temple on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and can be livestreamed on ESPN+.Â
