WACO, Texas (SMU) – Returner Maja Majoric posted four wins in singles play at the ITA Texas Regional, with teammate and freshman Caroline McGinley winning two.

In Thursday's singles play, Makoric won both of her matches. Her first was a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win over Houston's Sophie Schoutem, which the junior Mustang followed with another win — this time over Tarleton's Araneda Morales (6-1, 7-5).

Day two included a win from Lana Mavor over Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Ema Aucagne in 6-2, 6-0 sets. McGinley held her own against Texas A&M's No. 94 Daria Smetannikov, only losing by two in the first set (7-5) and three in the second (6-3).

In the main draw of doubles, also played on day two, both SMU pairs won their matches. Sophomore Drew Morris paired with Mavor, defeating Houston (8-7), with teammates Makoric and McGinley defeating Clara Sobius and Elsa Boisson from Tarleton (8-6).

Day three of competition concluded for the Mustangs with McGinley and Makoric winning both of their consultation singles matches against Texas A&M and Incarnate Word, respectively. 

Morris and Mavor ended play with an 8-4 win in their final doubles match of the weekend, this time against Texas A&M's Lizanne Boyer and Gianna Pielet.

Play for the Mustangs concluded on Sunday, with McGinley playing in back-to-back consolation rounds. In her first round, she defeated Stanislava Shulzhenko from North Texas (6-3, 6-1). McGinley wrapped up play in the second round of consultation play, falling to UTA's Ana Paula Jimenez, 6-3, 6-1.

Competition for SMU women's tennis continues with play in the South Carolina Invitational during the weekend of Oct. 27 in Columbia, South Carolina.
