COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) — SMU's Reka Patel and Millie Skelton wrapped up fall play for women's tennis with doubles and singles wins at the Texas A&M Invitational over the weekend.
Competing at the Mitchell Tennis Center along with the Mustangs were Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Utah. Seven of these programs were ranked in the final team rankings of last season. No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 7 Texas, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 35 Southern Methodist University, No. 36 Baylor, No. 42 Arkansas, No. 51 Utah and Houston.
Across both doubles and singles matches, Patel and Skelton faced opponents from A&M, Houston and Utah.
On day two, Patel and Skelton defeated Utah's Yuhan Liu and Sara Akid, 6-4. Patel also won in her singles match that followed — also against Akid, winning 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
Skelton took on Liu in singles play, falling 6-0, 6-3.
