DALLAS, Texas (SMU) -- SMU will battle for a regional title in Fayetteville, Arkansas tomorrow.Â
The Mustangs are currently ranked fourth in the South Central Region but have been ranked as high as second this season and have high goals headed into the weekend coming off their third-place finish at the AAC Championships.Â
"The team has hit refresh for November," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "They are focused on our process to control the controllable components of the race: ourselves."Â
The top two teams in tomorrow's race will automatically secure a slot in the NCAA Championships. After the automatic bids, 13 additional teams will be selected across all regions to compete in the Championship race.Â
Racing tomorrow will be Kaitlyn Gearin who earned All-Region honors in the previous two years, Maddie Hulcy who also earned All-Region honors last year, Macey Hilton and Leoni Mierswa who were both a part of last year's fifth place finishing team, Faustine Chaboche, Flora Tissier and Kendall Saeger.Â
Last year's fifth place finish was the team's highest since 2017. Tomorrow, the team will look to top that finish again and secure a place in the national championship. The race will begin at 10:30 CT.Â
