DALLAS- SMU plays its first home match following the Dallas Open, hosting USF on Friday at 3 p.m.
This is the Mustangs' first match against a conference opponent this season.
Friday's match marks the team's first time back to the home courts since capturing a season opener double header victory over Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word on January 19th.
INSIDE THE MATCH
SMU is 2-0 in home matches this season with a pair of sweeps against Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word in the season opener.
The Mustangs are 4-8 against USF. SMU won the last match against the Bulls, 4-3.
Lana Mavor, who remains undefeated this season, was the only current Mustang to pick up a win last year, which eventually clinched the win.

MUSTANG MARK
Hadley Doyle is coming off being named the AAC Women's Player of the Week (Feb. 14) after defeating the nation's No. 56-ranked player in three sets as she improved to an overall singles record to 15-5 in the 2022-23 season. In doubles, Doyle holds a 4-1 record with partner
Lana Mavor with their only loss coming in this past week from ASU. Throughout the 2022-23 season the duo has an 11-1 overall record.
Lana Mavor remains undefeated throughout the 2023 season, going 6-0 in singles. Mavor picked up the second and final point for the Mustangs against No. 23 ASU in three sets victory on Court 6. Mavor has clinched the singles point in two of SMU's three victories (Incarnate Word and VCU). Mavor picked up the Mustangs second point against No. 1 Texas with a straight set victory at No. 6. The senior has gone 18-2 in singles play in the 2022-23 season.
Drew Morris, the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week (Jan. 24), holds a 5-1 singles record throughout the spring season. Morris picked up her first loss throughout the season this past week against the No. 109- ranked player. Morris led the Mustangs to wins over Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word in their home opener. Morris picked up the Mustangs first victory over No. 1 ranked Texas. Morris added two more wins to her belt over the ITA Kickoff Weekend over Wisconsin and VCU. Since fall 2022, Morris is 17-4 in singles action.
The No. 32 ranked doubles duo,
Jackie Nylander and
Taylor Johnson picked up the biggest win of their career together by defeating the nation's No. 7-ranked team of ASU in a dominate fashion. The SMU pair only gave up two games in a 6-2 victory. The duo is now 4-2 in doubles play on Court 1 throughout the spring season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
USF is coming off a 4-2 loss to FGCU resulting in a 2-2 dual match record this season. USF holds an even, 1-1 record against teams on the road. The Bulls are retuning a pair of All-AAC players as well as Freshman of the Year.
In the 2022 season, USF entered the AAC tournament as the No. 9 seed and upset the No. 1 seeded UCF Knights in the quarterfinals. USF fell to Memphis in the semifinals of the AAC tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mustangs traveled to Tempe, Arizona where they fell 5-2 to No. 23 ASU. SMU dropped the doubles point as ASU went on to win the next four singles matches. Seniors,
Hadley Doyle and
Lana Mavor picked up the two points for the Mustangs winning on Court and Court 6 in singles, respectively.
