ORLANDO (SMU)- No. 47 SMU women's tennis hits the road for its last match of the 2023 regular season with a ranked conference matchup against No. 39 UCF on Apr. 16 at the USTA National Campus.
SMU looks to add its second ranked road match win of the season after knocking off No. 42 Rice 4-2 on Apr. 8.
The Mustangs picked up their biggest win of the season on Apr. 14 after blanking No. 25 San Diego at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex.
The Mustangs look to add another conference opponent victory as they have shutout each one of its foes this year (USF, Tulane and then No. 68 Tulsa).
SMU is well represented coming into the weekend in the ITA rankings. The Mustangs improve nine spots as they rejoin the top-50 as the No. 47 ranked team in the nation.
Hadley Doyle continues in the singles rankings at the No. 123 spot.
Taylor Johnson and
Jackie Nylander close out SMU's rankings as the No. 70 ranked doubles pair.
UCF is ranked as the No. 39 team after facing 11 straight top-70 teams. Marie Mattel is the No. 32 ranked singles player in the nation followed by Nandini Sharma and Stefani Webb ranked as the No. 73 doubles pairing.

Taylor Johnson is coming off being named the AAC Women's Player of the Week (Apr. 11) for the first time in her career.
Johnson won a pair of singles matches in straight sets as part of SMU's 1-1 week against ranked opponents. She scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles to lead the Mustangs to a 4-2 win against No. 44 Rice, while she took a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 to give SMU its only team point in a 4-1 setback to No. 42 Baylor. Johnson also picked up SMU's third point of the day against No. 25 San Diego with a straight set victory. Johnson extends her win streak to six straight as she improved to 9-4 in dual matches in the 2023 spring season.
Drew Morris, was the AAC Women's Player of the Week (Apr. 4) for the second time this season. Morris led SMU to a 4-0 win against No. 68 Tulsa in the Mustangs' lone dual match from last week as she won in both singles and doubles. Morris improved to 12-3 in dual matches in the spring season and is tied with Mavor in most victories. Morris was also named AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 24. Since fall 2022, Morris is 25-8 in singles action.
No. 123- ranked
Hadley Doyle was named the AAC Women's Player of the Week (Feb. 14) after defeating the nation's No. 56-ranked player in three sets. Doyle fought back in three sets to pick up the Mustangs fourth win in singles play against then No. 44 Rice. Doyle was the first match off in singles with a quick 6-0, 6-2 victory on Court 1 giving SMU the 2-0 lead. Doyle is now 8-3 in dual matches this spring.
In doubles, Doyle holds an 10-4 record with partner
Lana Mavor. The duo clinched the doubles point against Tulane with a 6-4 victory on Court 3. Throughout the 2022-23 season the duo has a 17-4 overall record.
Lana Mavor holds a 12-3 record throughout the 2023 season tying her with Morris for most team victories. Mavor has clinched the match in six of SMU's victories (Incarnate Word, VCU, USF, Richmond, Denver and San Diego). Mavor picked up the second and final point for the Mustangs against No. 23 ASU in three sets victory on Court 6. Mavor picked up the Mustangs second point against No. 1 Texas with a straight set victory at No. 6. The senior has gone 25-7 in singles play in the 2022-23 season.
Jackie Nylander had her third match-clincher of the 2023 season with a straight set victory on Court 4 against then No. 44 Rice.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
No. 39 UCF is coming off a 4-1 victory over ranked conference opponent, No. 59 South Florida. The Knights are 7-4 at home this season resulting in an even overall record of 9-9.

Starting Apr. 20 the Mustangs will compete for a conference title in the AAC Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
