Kaitlyn Gearin returned to the Stanford track for the Payton Jordan Invitational on Friday night for another shot at running a first round qualifying time in the 5,000. The top 48 marks in individual events earn bids to the regional meet.
"We traveled to Payton Jordan to run a first-round qualifier," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "Kaitlyn went for it and, in the end, it was not faster than a few weeks ago."
Gearin ran a time of 16:37.13 for ninth place in her heat of the 5,000. With her best time this season of 16:12.24, which was a PR ran at Stanford at the beginning of this month, Gearin currently sits 56th in the West Region rankings.
Raelyn Roberson currently sits within the qualifying range in 31st in the long jump with her mark of 6.15 meters from last weekend's meet, as does Maykayla Jackson in the triple jump in 34th with a mark of 12.64 meters. Olivia Dobson currently sits at 18th in the region in the Heptathlon with 5,342 points.
The Mustangs will have several more chances to get into qualifying range. First, in Austin at the Texas Invitational next weekend. Then, again at the AAC championships in May.
