No. 12 Rowing Travels West For Pac 12 Challenge

DALLAS (SMU) – In its final competition before conference, No. 12 SMU rowing travels to California to compete in the Pac 12 Challenge from Redwood Shores in Redwood City.
The Mustangs will compete against No. 4 Stanford, No.7 Cal and Iowa. Racing begins on Saturday as the Mustangs take off in the first race at 9 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. CT against Cal. The competition is split into two segments on Saturday with the final session beginning at 3 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. CT against Stanford. The event concludes on Sunday with one session slated for 9 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. CT against Iowa.
Last time out, the Mustangs competed in the Big 10 Invitational from Sarasota, Florida. The Mustangs recorded 13 top-two finishes in 15 races. SMU tallied six race victories including four in the final day's five SMU races. SMU's second varsity eight boat was named AAC Boat of the Week for its performance. The squad won one race and placed second twice beating Michigan, Alabama, Indiana, Duke, Rutgers and Michigan State along the way.
After the Pac 12 Challenge, the Mustangs head to the American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship slated for May 14 from Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
