SMU rowing looks to defend its title as the Mustangs compete in the American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship on Sunday May 14 from Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

This season, SMU is seeded No. 1 in each of the three championship races. The Mustangs won AAC titles in 2021 and 2022, qualifying for the NCAA Championship in each season. The Championship will be available to watch via ESPN+.

The winner of the AAC title will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship at Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

The Mustangs enter the championship as the No. 12 ranked team in the country. The Mustangs are also ranked No. 2 in Region 4 trailing only Michigan. In the region, SMU has the top-ranked second varsity eight boat and the second ranked first varsity eight boat.

SMU has won AAC boat of the week in each of the two meets this season. The second varsity eight boat won for its performance at the Big 10 Invite and the first varsity eight won after the Pac 12 Challenge.

The Championship begins at 8 a.m. CT / 9 a.m. ET from Melton Lake. The final race will be the varsity eight slated for 8:45 a.m. CT / 9:45 a.m. ET.
