Rowing Prepares For NCAA Championship

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU rowing heads to New Jersey for the 2023 NCAA Rowing Championships slated for Friday May 26 through Sunday May 28.
The Mustangs are seeded No. 12 in the first varsity eight races and No. 10 in both the second varsity eight and varsity four. Rowing begins on Friday for the Mustangs at 9 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. CT. with the first varsity eight.
SMU is fresh off another successful American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship. The Mustangs swept all four events for the third straight year. Eight Mustangs were named all-conference by the AAC. On the first team, Emily Baker, Daisy Butterworth, Alice Fahey, Megan Hewison and Sasha Radovanovic were selected from SMU. While Victoria Franklin, Kate Hadley and Sydney Suntrup were selected to the second team.
SMU is ranked No. 13 in the latest edition of the Pocock Coaches Poll. The Mustangs are ranked No. 2 in the region trailing only Michigan. In Region 5, SMU second varsity eight ranks as the top regional boat.
At last year's NCAA Championship, the Mustangs finished in 12th place. Second varsity eight finished in 10th while first eight took 11th. Varsity four won the C final for 13th place.
