Men’s Soccer Signs Two More

Aug 4

DALLAS (SMU) - Niv Berkovitz and Noah Ervin have signed with SMU men's soccer for the 2023-24 season, Head Coach Kevin Hudson announced on Thursday. They join the 11 other new signees previously announced.

Berkovitz comes to the Hilltop from Israel, where he was a member of the U17 and U18 national team and also participated in the Israeli cup.

The incoming freshman plans to study finance at SMU.

"I decided to join SMU since it was a great combination of being a top soccer team with high academics," Berkovitz said. "The professional staff made me realize it's the best team for me. I'm convinced SMU will help me take my game to the next level and I'm confident that we'll have a great season together."

Ervin comes to SMU from Arizona where he helped Desert Vista High School to a 6A State Championship. He played for RSL AZ as an outside back and winger.

He also has international experience from playing in Switzerland.

"Since I was younger, SMU has been my dream school, so it is incredibly amazing to be given this opportunity to play for such an amazing program," Ervin said. "I am very excited for this upcoming season and can't wait to be playing at such a high level day in and day out and also be competing with the best players."

The Mustangs finished their 2022 season with a 10-6-1 record and made the second round in the NCAA Tournament — 22 members of the roster were also placed on the AAC All-Academic Team.
