MILWAUKEE (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Saturday at the Milwaukee Country Club.

"It was great to start off the fall season at the 47th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic," said Head Coach Grant Chen. "There is much history in this event, and we thank the tournament committee for hosting an elite event. It was exciting to see Maks and Jerry in their first competition as Mustangs. We will continue to work and keep building throughout the fall season."

Jerry Barton advanced all the way to Saturday's singles quarterfinals, defeating Wisconsin's Collin Beduhn (6-3, 6-1) and Mississippi State's Benito Sanchez Martinez (6-4, 6-4) on the way.

Liam Krall teamed up with Barton in the doubles field. The pair reached the tournament's semifinals after two 6-3 victories over duos from VCU and Wisconsin.

#117 Krall (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and Louis Cloud (6-4, 6-1) also picked up wins in the first round of singles.

Cloud joined forces with Maks Silagy in the doubles field. The duo went on to defeat Navy's Aniketh Ayinala and Nathan Nguyen 6-1 in the first round of the draw.
