SMU Adds Four New Times to the SMU History Books This Weekend

The Mustangs added four new Top-10 times to the SMU history books this weekend along with numerous PRs for the athletes. Three PRs came out of Boston where the distance athletes raced – two coming from the 800 with Macey Hilton running 2:13.61 and Faustine Chaboche running 2:13.70.  

Hilton and Chaboche now rank 10th and 11th in the American Conference. In New Mexico, Emily Waller also achieved a PR in the 800 placing fourth with a time of 2:16.19 -- 13th in the conference. 

After the mile in Boston, SMU took over three of the top 10 spots in the conference. Leoni Mierswa is now seventh with her time of 4:52.61, Hilton is eighth with 4:53.18, and Chaboche is ninth with 4:53.80. 

Kaitlyn Gearin climbed to third in the conference in the 3,000 with her time of 9:37.37. Kendall Saeger ran a time of 9:55.37 this weekend, and Jessie Crowley ran a PR time of 10:19.49. 

In New Mexico, Ariana Sutton had a stellar weekend with PRs in both the 200 and the 400. She ran 24.83 in the 200, and 56.03 in the 400 – the tenth fastest time in SMU history and seventh in the conference. Camryn McPhaul also ran a PR time in the 400 with a time of 56.79. K'Nyah Isaac was right behind her with a time of 56.82, and Kirin Chaccia ran 57.95. 

In the 600, Emily Waller placed fourth and Whitney Williams placed sixth running times of 1:36.49 and 1:37.88. 

The 60 meter hurdles was history-making for the Mustangs with two names being added to the SMU Top-10 list. Nea Sanders ran a time of 8.90 putting her in 16th on the conference list, and Gabriella Ayiteyfio and Olivia Dobson added their names to the history books. Ayiteyfio ran a time of 8.95 -- 7th in SMU history – and Dobson ran a PR time of 8.97 for eighth in SMU history. 

The 4x400 also made history with the relay made up of Hali Murphy. Sutton, McPhaul, and Isaac running the fifth fastest time by SMU of 3:43.51. This is currently the third fastest time ran by an American Conference team this season. 

In the field events, Funminiyi Olajide placed second in the Long Jump with her mark of 6.20 meters – fifth in the American, and Olivia Dobson moved into ninth place in the conference for the Shot Put with a throw of 14.20 meters. 

The Mustangs will have one final regular season competition weekend before the Indoor Conference Championships where they will return to both Boston and New Mexico on February 9th.
