STILLWATER, Okla. (SMU) – SMU fell 89-78 in a charity exhibition benefiting the American Heart Association at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday.
B.J. Edwards and
Kevin "Boopie" Miller co-led the Mustangs as each had 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Chuck Harris had 11 points and
Matt Cross added 14 to give SMU four in double figures.
Keon Ambrose-Hylton had seven points and three blocks.
Kario Oquendo added nine points and
Yohan Traore also scored seven.
Oklahoma State hit 14-28 from three for the game, including 10-of-16 in the first half to build a 47-38 break at the half. The Mustangs made a 14-0 run in the second half to get within 61-60 with 12 minutes left, but never got even the rest of the way.
After OSU jumped out to an 11-5 lead, SMU went on a 12-2 run to take a 17-13 advantage. The Mustangs eventually took their largest lead at 23-18.
Bryce Thompson led OSU with 24 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor and hitting 5-of-5 from three.

Harris, Ambrose-Hylton and Miller were announced as team captains before the game.
The Mustangs open the season at Moody Coliseum on Nov. 4 by hosting Tarleton State at 7:30 p.m.
SMU plays an 11-game non-conference schedule that includes seven teams that made the postseason last year. SMU's pre-league slate includes a home matchup with Mississippi State (Nov. 22), a neutral-site game versus LSU (Dec. 14) at Comerica Center in Frisco

The ACC Men's Basketball Tournament is March 11-15 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Andy Enfield took the helm of the SMU program following 11 seasons at USC, where he led the Trojans to five of the last eight NCAA Tournaments, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2021.
