The SMU women's basketball program continues its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) by hosting (rv/--) Texas Tech on Wednesday inside Moody Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT, and fans can watch the game on ACCNX or listen on the radio through the SMU Mobile App.
Wednesday's game will be SMU's final non-conference home game of the season and its final home game before the new year. The game's theme is Hoops for the Holidays: fans can receive free admission by bringing a toy for the Toys for Tots drive. The first 250 fans in attendance will also receive an SMU corduroy hat. Â
SMU will look to bounce back after dropping its last two games on the road at Mizzou (SEC/ACC Challenge) and at Florida State (ACC Opener). The Mustangs are 5-1 at home this season and have won their last three home games.
Center Jessica Peterson has recorded over 12 rebounds in four of her last five games and has recorded a double-double in three of them. She collected a career-high 21 rebounds and scored 12 points against UT Arlington, which is the second-most rebounds in a game in school history. She enters the game ranked fourth in the NCAA in rebounds per game (11.2).
Guard Nya Robertson has been turning heads all season long. She enters the game ranked 13th in the NCAA in points per game (21.0) and eighth in total points (210). The star guard has scored over 20 points in five of the team's 10 games this season.
Robertson tied her season-high point total, scoring 29 points, last time SMU played at home versus UTA. She also ranks inside the top 10 in the ACC in nine statistical categories.
The ACC has posted 114 victories through the non-conference portion of the regular season, the second-most among all conferences. The ACC has posted eight victories over ranked opponents, tied for the most in the country. Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest Associated Press (AP) Poll with No. 8 Notre Dame and No.9 Duke ranked inside the top 10, North Carolina (14) and NC State (22) and Georgia Tech (25) are also in the poll, while Florida State, Louisville, California, Stanford are receiving votes.
SMU is in its fourth season under head coach Toyelle Wilson. The Mustangs are 50-49 under Wilson and have made the WNIT twice during her tenure. She holds a career record of 105-92 in seven seasons of head coaching.
Wednesday will be the 47th meeting between SMU and Texas Tech. The Red Raiders lead the overall series 42-4.
The game will be played in Moody Coliseum for the first time since 2006. That was also the last time SMU defeated Texas Tech, winning the game 72-61.
The two teams faced each other for the first time in 16 years at the end of the 2022-23 season as TTU won 61-49 in the second round of the WNIT.
Texas Tech enters the game on a three-game winning streak, and it will be the team's first true road game of the season.

After defeating UTA in their last home game, the Mustangs are 27-10 at home over the last three seasons. The Mustangs have won eight of their previous nine home non-conference games dating back to last season. SMU is 27-17 in non-conference games under Wilson.
// SECOND CHANCE OPPORTUNITIES
The Mustangs have collected over 13 offensive rebounds in seven of their first 10 games this season.
SMU has recorded 20 or more offensive three times this season. The three games are the most 20+ offensive rebound games in a single season since the team had seven during the 2019-20 season. SMU currently ranks 14th in the NCAA and first in the ACC in offensive rebounds, with an average of 16.2 a game.Â

Guard Zanai Jones has been on a tear recently. She has scored 17 points in back-to-back games against Mizzou and FSU. She has shot 5-8 from beyond the arc and 13-25 from the floor during the stretch.
Last time out against FSU, she tied her career high with seven assists. She leads the team in APG with 3.8 and ranks ninth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0).

Jessica Peterson is amidst a career season. She has recorded a double-double in three of her last four games and has achieved the feat four times this season, which ranks third in the ACC and ranking 20th in the NCAA.
Peterson currently ranks third in the NCAA and leads the ACC in rebounds per game at 11.9 and is sixth in the NCAA and second in the ACC in total rebounds (107).
Against UTA, she hauled in a career-high 21 rebounds, the second most by a player in a single game in program history. She is now the seventh player in school history to record 20 or more rebounds and the first since Dai'ja Thomas had 22 vs East Carolina 1/13/18 (Tied School Record).

Robertson has showcased her scoring ability all season long, and she enters the weekend leading in the ACC in Three-Point Attempts (82-5th in the NCAA). She is second in the conference in Field Goal Attempts (198- 3rd in the NCAA), third in Total Points (210- 8th in the NCAA) and in Three-Pointers Made (26- 30th in the NCAA),
Robertson went 10-26 from the field in SMU's last home game against UTA; her 26 attempts are tied for the sixth most in program history by a single player and the most since Kayla White took 28 shots vs. APBU in 2021.
Robertson has scored over 20 points in five of the team's 10 games this season, including scoring 29 points against UT Arlington. She has achieved the feat 24 times in her career.

Chantae Embry shined in the team's ACC opener versus Florida State. Embry ended her night with a season-high 22 points on 8-15 shooting while going 4-7 from deep. Her four three-pointers tied her career high, and it was her first 20-point game this season.
Embry scored in double digits in eight of 10 games played this season. She currently ranks second on the team in both points and rebounds (12.6 ppg / 6.8 rpg).
// HARD EARNED POINTS
Embry had a career day at the foul line against ODU as she made 10 of her 11 foul shots; both were career-highs. She followed that performance up by going a perfect 7-of-7 from the line against Western Michigan.
This season, she is 28-of-33 from the line and leads the team in foul line percentage at 84.8%, ranking 9th in the ACC. Her 10 free throws made against ODU were the most made by a Mustang since Tiara Young went 18-22 from the stripe against Memphis last season on Jan. 1, 2024.
