The SMU women's basketball program continues its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) by traveling to Columbia, Mo., to face Missouri as part of SEC/ACC Challenge. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, and fans can watch the game on SECN or listen on the radio through the SMU Mobile App.
The second annual SEC/ACC Challenge is slated for Wednesday-Thursday, Dec. 4-5. The event features 16 matchups that will be featured on linear networks. The conferences split the Challenge in its inaugural season last year, 7-7. This year's Challenge will feature four matchups featuring ranked teams.
SMU is on a three-game winning streak and will look to continue its winning ways after defeating UT Arlington 71-46 last time out. SMU is 5-1 at home this season.
Thursday's game will be SMU's second true road game of the season as the Mustangs competed in the Briann January Classic, facing host Arizona State and Minnesota earlier this season.
Center Jessica Peterson is coming off her third straight double-double of the season, collecting a career-high 21 rebounds and scoring 12 points against UTA. She enters the game averaging a double-double this season (11.6 reb, 10.0 pts).
Guard Nya Robertson has been turning heads all season long. She enters the game ranked ninth in the NCAA in points per game (22.4) and is eighth in total points (179)The star guard has scored over 20 points in five of the team's eight games this season, including last time out as she tied her season-high point total, scoring 29 points versus UTA. She also ranks in the top five in the ACC in five other statistical categories.
Robertson reached the 1,000 career point milestone against Arkansas Pine Bluff and is on pace this season to be the first Mustangs to average over 20 points a game since Keena Mays averaged 21.6 ppg during the 2013-14 season.
The ACC has posted 107 victories through the non-conference portion of the regular season, the second-most among all conferences. Four ACC teams are ranked in the latest Associated Press (AP) Poll, with Duke climbing to its highest ranking since the 2014-15 season at No. 8. Notre Dame (10), North Carolina (16) and Louisville (22) are also in the poll, while Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State and Stanford are receiving votes.
SMU is in its fourth season under head coach Toyelle Wilson. The Mustangs are 50-47 under Wilson and have made the WNIT twice during her tenure. She holds a career record of 105-90 in seven seasons of head coaching.
Thursday's game will be the third overall meeting between SMU and Mizzou. It will be the first ever time in series history that the game will be played in Columbia and the first time the teams have faced each other since 2002. Mizzou is 7-3 (0-0 SEC) overall this season and enters the game on a two-game winning streak. The Tigers are 5-1 at home this season.

After defeating UTA in their last home game, the Mustangs are 27-10 at home over the last three seasons. The Mustangs have won six of their previous seven home non-conference games dating back to last season. SMU is 27-17 in non-conference games under Wilson.
// SECOND CHANCE OPPORTUNITIES
The Mustangs collected 19 offensive rebounds last time out and have recorded over 15 offensive rebounds in six of their first eight games this season.
SMU has recorded 20 or more offensive three times this season. The three games are the most 20+ offensive rebound games in a single season since the team had seven during the 2019-20 season.
SMU currently ranks 11th in the NCAA and first in the ACC in offensive rebounds, with an average of 17.9 a game. Â

Jessica Peterson is amidst a career season entering the game, averaging a double-double (11.6 reb, 10.0 pts). She has recorded a double-double in three straight games and has achieved the feat four times this season, leading the ACC and ranking 14th in the NCAA.
Peterson currently ranks third in the NCAA and leads the ACC in rebounds per game at 11.6 and fifth in the NCAA and second in the ACC in total rebounds (93).
Against UTA, she hauled in a career-high 21 rebounds, the second most by a player in a single game in program history. She is now the seventh player in school history to record 20 or more rebounds and the first since Dai'ja Thomas had 22 vs East Carolina 1/13/18 (Tied School Record).

Peterson has been a force on both sides of the ball recently as she recorded a career-high six blocks against UAPB. It was the most blocks by an individual Mustang in a game since Alicia Froling had seven against Wichita St in 2019.

Nya Robertson has had a strong start to the season. She currently averages 22.4 ppg and ranks ninth in the NCAA and third in the ACC in scoring.
Robertson has showcased her scoring ability all season long, and she enters the weekend leading in the ACC in Field Goal Attempts (157- 4th in the NCAA) and Three-Point Attempts (72-5th in the NCAA).She is  second in the conference in Total Points (179- 8th in the NCAA), Three-Pointers Made (25- 12th in the NCAA), third in Field Goals Made (59- 22nd NCAA).
Robertson went 10-26 from the field last time out against UTA; her 26 attempts are tied for the sixth most in program history by a single player and the most since Kayla White took 28 shots vs. APBU in 2021.
Robertson has scored over 20 points in five of the team's eight games this season, including scoring 29 points last time out. She has achieved the feat 24 times in her career.
She has scored double-digit points in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season and reached double-digit points in 49 of her career 64 games played.
Robertson scored her 1,000th career point in the third quarter against UAPB. It only took her 63 career games (56 at George Washington / 7 at SMU) to reach the milestone. Against Old Dominion, she scored a season-high 29 points were also the most points by a Mustang inside Moody Coliseum since Kayla White scored 34 against East Carolina on Jan. 13, 2022.

Jessica Peterson is currently first in the ACC in double-doubles with four after recording double-doubles in her last three games. She is the only Mustang this season to record a double-double.
Peterson recorded her first career and the Mustang's first double-double of the season against N.C. A&T. She finished the game with 16 points and 11 rebounds and joined Chantae Embry and Kaysia Woods as the only Mustangs on the roster to have recorded a double-double in their careers.

Chantae Embry had a career day at the foul line against ODU as she made 10 of her 11 foul shots; both were career-highs. She followed that performance up by going a perfect 7-of-7 from the line against Western Michigan.
This season, she is 28-of-33 from the line and leads the team in foul line percentage at 84.8%, ranking 10th in the ACC. Her 10 free throws made against ODU were the most made by a Mustang since Tiara Young went 18-22 from the stripe against Memphis last season on Jan. 1, 2024.
Embry scored in double digits in seven of eight games played this season and recorded a season-high of 18 points and secured eight rebounds against ODU. She currently ranks second on the team in both points and rebounds (12.5 ppg / 6.6 rpg).

 Forward Jessica Peterson collected 21 rebounds and Nya Robertson tied her season-high scoring 29 points as the SMU women's basketball program defeated UT Arlington 71-46 on Friday inside Moody Coliseum.
After training by as much as 12 in the first quarter, the Mustangs responded by dominating the next three quarters, outscoring the Lady Mavs 58-23. SMU held UTA to just 31.7% shooting and only allowed six made-field goals in the second half.
The Mustangs forced 19 turnovers, which became opportunities as SMU had multiple double-digit runs during the game. SMU also dominated the boards, grabbing a season-high 51.
Peterson recorded her third straight double-double and her fourth of the season as she collated 21 rebounds and added 12 points. The 21 rebounds were a new career high and tied for the second most in a game in program history. She is now the seventh Mustang in school history to grab 20 or more rebounds in a single game.
