DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team went 2-0 with sweeps against UTRGV (7-0) and Incarnate Word (4-0) on Friday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.

With Friday's wins, SMU improves to 8-3 on the season.

All three SMU doubles pairs – Jerry Barton and Trevor Svajda, Huntley Allen and Julian Steinhausen, and Callaway Clark and Kyle Sillman – earned victories to help the Mustangs jump to a 1-0 lead over the Vaqueros.

Eric Hadigian picked up SMU's first singles win, defeating UTRGV's Paulo Bonaguro (6-0, 6-1). Liam Krall followed, beating Santiago Serrano (6-0, 6-4). No. 88 Barton then clinched SMU's morning victory in his 6-1, 6-1 win against Agustin Salazar (6-1, 6-1).

Louis Cloud rounded out SMU's winners in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ivo Isquiero.

Clark and senior captain Adam Neff also earned victories in SMU's morning match. After dropping the first set 6-2, Clark rallied to defeat Will Roberts 6-3, 10-8 in the second and third sets to take the match. Neff won his first set against Emilien Burnel, then bested his court one opponent 10-5 in the third set.

SMU kicked off its second match with a doubles score against Incarnate Word.

The Cardinals took the first set of doubles on court two. Svajda and Cloud, in their first appearance together, responded with a 6-4 win to tie the doubles sets at one apiece.
Then, the captain duo of Neff and Allen clinched the Mustangs' team point with a 6-3 win on court one.

Hadigian earned his second convincing win of the day, this time defeating Incarnate Word's Antoine Thiriat (6-1, 6-0).

Krall lifted the Mustangs' lead to 3-0 with a win over Arnau Miralles (6-2, 6-2). Krall's victory during the night match marked his second of the day.

Cloud later clinched the night match, beating Emilio Vila to seal SMU and Cloud's second wins of the day.

The Mustangs travel to face Clemson on Sunday at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Sunday's dual match is set to begin at 3 p.m. (CT).
