DALLAS (SMU) – The 55th-ranked SMU men's tennis team earned its second sweep of the week with a 7-0 victory over Wisconsin at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday.
"Today was a great win for us," said
Eric Hadigian. "It was different match with Wisconsin having to default a few lines, but we stayed mentally tough and performed well. We are excited for another opportunity tomorrow."
SMU improves to 12-6 on the season and 9-1 at home. The Mustangs have now won four consecutive matches and earned eight sweeps over opponents.
Due to a Wisconsin forfeit, SMU began doubles play with a win by default on court three. The Mustangs' duo of
Trevor Svajda and
Louis Cloud would then clinch the doubles point for SMU by defeating Wisconsin's Michael Minasyan and Matthew Fullerton, 6-1.
With the win, Svajda and Cloud improve to 4-1 as a doubles pair on the season.
The Mustangs went into singles play with a 3-0 lead due to Wisconsin forfeits on courts five and six.
Cloud picked up his second singles win of the week to clinch the match for the Mustangs, defeating Wisconsin's Collin Beduhn (6-1, 6-3).
Adam Neff earned another singles victory for SMU, beating Michael Minasyan on court one (6-1, 6-3).
Eric Hadigian followed with his second win of the week on court two against Matthew Fullerton (6-3, 6-1).
Jerry Barton capped off the sweep for SMU with 6-4, 7-5 win over Gabriel Huber on court three. Barton's win also marked his second of the week and ninth of the season.
SMU returns to action on Sunday against No. 34 Middle Tennessee at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex. Sunday's dual match will begin at 12 p.m. (CT).
