Rowing Competes In Dallas Against Texas And Oklahoma

SMU rowing competes in a home exhibition meet as they face Texas and Oklahoma on Saturday and Sunday at Bachman Lake.
SETTING THE SCENE
Action begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening and resumes at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Last weekend, the Mustangs took to the water for the first time. They faced Iowa in an exhibition in Waco.
LAST SEASON
The Mustangs are fresh off a season where they finished in ninth place at the NCAA Championships, finishing with 85 points, the most ever by an AAC program. The best SMU boat finish came in first varsity eight as they finished seventh place nationally.
SMU swept the AAC Championship winning its third straight conference title. Five Mustangs were named first team all-conference.
ABOUT TEXAS
Texas is ranked No. 4 in the Pocock Rowing Coaches Poll. They finished fourth in the country at the NCAA Championships in 2023. Texas' varsity four won first in their respective field for the first time in program history. Prior to the Championships, Texas won its eighth consecutive Big 12 Championship sweeping all five races. Texas won the team national title in 2022.
ABOUT OKLAHOMA
The Sooners have won two Big 12 and two Conference USA titles and became the first Big 12 team to compete at the NCAA Rowing Championship in 2013. The Sooners have amassed seven conference Rower of the Year honors and five Coach of the Year awards. They are currently unranked in the coaches poll. Last season, OU finished fourth in the Big 12 with two all-conference honorees.
