SAN DIEGO – The SMU men's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 12 San Diego at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center on Monday.
SMU moves to 13-7 on the season, snapping a five-match win streak. The Mustangs have now faced eight ranked opponents on the season, including four in the top-25.
Eric Hadigian earned a win over his ranked opponent, No. 100 Iiro Vasa, in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) to score for the Mustangs. With the victory, Hadigian improved to 8-4 on the spring. Hadigian marks the fifth Mustang to earn a win over a ranked singles opponent this spring.
The Toreros got out to a 1-0 lead by taking the team doubles point and take three courts in singles play to win the match.
SMU returns home for its next match versus Tulane at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday. Saturday's Match of the Month will begin at 12 p.m. (CT).
