DALLAS (SMU) – The 42nd-ranked SMU men's tennis team defeated Tulane 6-1 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday.
With the win, SMU improves to 14-7 on the season and 11-1 at home. The Mustangs are now 3-0 versus AAC opponents.
The Mustangs have swept opponents in singles play in nine matches this spring.
"I am super proud of the guys today," said
Adam Neff. "It was great having the guys bounce back to win all six singles matches after losing the doubles point against a great team. Hopefully, this is the beginning of another conference championship run as we look to keep building against a great Memphis team next week."
Neff and
Huntley Allen, the nation's 59th-ranked duo, defeated Tulane's 71st-ranked Alex Bancila and Luc Hoejmans for their sixth doubles win of the season. Tulane would go on to take the remaining doubles matches and claim the team point.
SMU quickly took away Tulane's 1-0 lead with straight sets victories from both 37th-ranked
Trevor Svajda and 96th-ranked Neff. Neff came through with the Mustangs' first singles win of the match, defeating Alex Bancila (6-1, 6-2). Svajda then claimed court one over Billy Suarez (6-3, 6-1) for his 13th win of the season.
Maks Silagy earned his 10th win of the year against Luc Hoejmans (6-1, 6-3) on court four.
Eric Hadigian followed, clinching the Mustangs' win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Luka Petrovic.
Jerry Barton picked up his 11th win of the spring, defeating Rafael de Alba in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
Louis Cloud also reached his 10th win of the spring, beating Fynn Kuenkler (6-3, 5-7, 10-1) for SMU's final point of the day.
SMU will host No. 23 Memphis and UT Dallas on Apr. 7 for the Mustangs' final home doubleheader of the season. SMU's match with Memphis will begin at 12 p.m., with UT Dallas and senior night ceremonies to follow at 5 p.m. (All Times Central).
