Seven Personal Bests Set for the Mustangs This Weekend

Five new SMU Top-10 times were run this weekend resulting in more names climbing the conference rankings. The Mustangs also ran numerous personal best and season best times across this weekend's meets. 

"This weekend of competitions is a must compete year after year," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "This year was no different as our women made moves up the AAC and NCAA lists." 

Nea Sanders is now third on the SMU all-time list for her time of 13.73 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Texas Relays. This is the sixth fastest time in the AAC this season. At Texas State, Kirin Chacchia also ran a PR with a time of 14.51. 

Emily Waller ran her best time of the season in the 400 hurdles with 1:01.31 placing her second in the conference. 

In the triple jump, Maykayla Jackson is now 10th in the AAC with her jump of 11.59 meters. 

SMU holds two of the top 10 marks in the conference in the 400 after this weekend with Whitney Williams running 54.51 -- a season best – which also places her at 67th on the NCAA performance list for the season and sixth on the conference list. Ariana Sutton ran a PR time of 55.27 putting her at ninth in the conference and 10th on the SMU all-time list. Camryn McPhaul ran 56.50 and Emily Waller ran a PR of 57.54. 

The 4x400 made up of Chacchia, McPhaul, Waller and Sutton ran a time of 3:39.98 -- now the second fastest time in SMU history and 32nd on the NCAA performance list. 

The heptathlon also brought history-making performances for the Mustangs. In the 100-meter hurdles, Gabriella Ayiteyfio ran a time of 14.17, which is a season best, and Olivia Dobson ran a personal best of 14.42 -- putting her seventh on the SMU all-time list. Ayiteyfio also ran a PR in the 200 with a time of 24.53. 

At Stanford, Flora Tissier ran a time of 4:29.72 in the 1,500 – a new PR for her. Nikoleta Rafailaki now leads the conference in the 3,000 Steeplechase with a time of 10:50.38. Kaitlyn Gearin ran 16:33.03 in the 5,000 and is second in the conference. 

Next weekend, the Mustangs will stay close to home and compete at the North Texas Classic in Denton.
