Box Score DALLAS — At the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex, the No. 45 Mustangs took down No. 47 Memphis, 4-3. The match also served as SMU's senior day, with graduate student Hadley Doyle clinching the match on court three in a tiebreaker set.
"This graduating class has been incredible," head coach Jeff Nevolo said. "They've really set the tone for this program; moving forward has so much to do with this senior class and as their coach I'm incredibly grateful for their efforts."
Memphis took the first point of the match in doubles play.
The Mustangs battled back, with every member of the graduating class winning their singles match.
"To have the seniors all win their singles matches after what was a tough doubles point is really rewarding," Nevolo said. "They've been incredible members of our team and it was also a really big step forward for us as a program. We were really gritty out there today."
Junior Drew Morris took down Leonie Moeller to conclude the first doubles match (6-1, 6-1). Taylor Johnson defeated Camila Soares — also in two sets — 6-2, 6-4.
Lana Mavor, a Maine native, earned her win over Emily Meyer (6-3, 6-4).
Clinching the match for SMU was graduate student Hadley Doyle. She defeated Monique Woog on court three — 6-4, 7-6.
"Today was definitely a very special day and to be able to clinch was even more special," Doyle said. "To do it with all the girls and to finish the regular season with a bang was a great way to end the regular season."
