Results 

AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) -- Several Mustangs moved their name higher within the conference rankings with their performances at the Texas Invitational this weekend. This meet was the last of the regular season for 2024. 

The 4x400 relay made up of Kirin Chacchia, Whitney Williams, Camryn McPhaul and Ariana Sutton won the race with a time of 3:39.21 and, in doing so, ran their best time of the season and the second fastest time in SMU history. The relay is ranked third in the AAC headed into the championship meet. 

In the 200, Sutton ran a PR time of 24.22 and K'Nyah Isaac ran her best time of the season with 24.73.  

The trend continued in the 400-meter hurdles where Emily Waller ran 1:00.57 -- a personal best and fifth fastest in the SMU record books. This time places her sixth in the conference. Chacchia ran 1:01.56, and Nea Sanders ran a season best time of 1:02.00. The trio were among the top-five finishing collegiate athletes in Austin. 

Sanders had a PR in the 100-meter hurdles running 13.50, and Chacchia and Gabriella Ayiteyfio followed with 14.17 and 14.57. 

The jumps also moved SMU higher on the conference performance lists. Hedda Kvalvag is now seventh in the AAC in the triple jump with a season best of 12.50 meters. Ayiteyfio also had a season best jump in the long jump with 5.61 meters. 

The distance ponies had great finishes with Faustine Chaboche running 4:32.24 for second, Flora Tissier placing fourth with 4:34.52, and Kaitlyn Gearin shortly behind in fifth with 4:35.18. 

The Mustangs will return to the track on May 10-12 in San Antonio for the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
