SMU rowing travels to Tennessee for the American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship where the team looks to defend its three-consecutive conference titles.
The Champion of the AAC Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The auto qualifier will be decided by points won in Varsity Four, Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight.
The Mustangs competed in two official meets during the 2024 regular season. The team headed to California first for competition in the San Diego Crew Classic. SMU beat the likes of Cal-San Diego and San Diego in races throughout the weekend. At the Big Ten Invitational, the Mustangs weekend was highlighted by a victory over Michigan State in the 1v4 race. On the final day of the meet, the Mustangs finished fourth in three races.
The Mustangs swept the AAC Championships for the second straight year in 2023. Coming into the weekend as the 12th-ranked team in the country and No. 1 seed in every race, the Mustangs dominated the field winning each race by at least eight seconds. The Mustangs scored 168 points, topping the field by 28 points. Five Mustangs were selected as first-team all-conference.
