STILLWATER, Okla. (SMU) – Trevor Svajda,
Adam Neff and
Huntley Allen wrapped up competition at the NCAA Individual Championships on Tuesday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Svajda kicked off the day with his second-round matchup with Arizona State's Murphy Cassone. Cassone, who ranked No. 11 in the ITA's latest singles poll, took the first set (6-3).
Svajda responded in the second set, jumping out to a 5-1 lead and eventually tying the match with his 7-5 set victory. Cassone would go on to claim the match and advance to the Sweet 16 with a 6-2 third set win.
Svajda's 2024 NCAA Individual Championships second-round run marked the first Mustang to advance in the singles bracket since Johan Brunstrom in 2004.
Neff and Allen later faced off versus the No. 4 overall duo of Robert Cash and JJ Tracy from Ohio State. The Mustangs' captain pair pushed the first set to a 3-3 tie before dropping the set 6-4. Ohio State's duo then closed out the match in the second set with a 6-2 win.
The Mustangs were represented in both the singles and doubles brackets of the NCAA Individual Championships for the first time since 2001 with Genius Chidzikwe (singles) and Jon Wallmark and Brunstrom (doubles).
