Rowing Set To Compete At NCAA Championship

SMU rowing heads back to the NCAA Rowing Championship in Bethel, Ohio May 31-June 2.
SMU rows in heat four in each of the three opening races. They are in lane six in 1v8 and 2v8. They are in lane one for 1v4. The Mustangs are seeded No. 21 in 1v8 and 2v8 and No. 20 for 1v4.
The Mustangs qualified for the NCAA Championship by wining the AAC Championship. They made it four titles in a row with their AAC title. SMU took home two victories in scored races, varsity four and second varsity eight. The team finished second in first varsity eight. The Mustangs finished ahead of Tulsa by four points in the overall standings. In a non-scored race SMU won second varsity four by three seconds.
Five Mustangs were named first team all-conference: Emily Baker, Lauren Bilafer, Anne Ensley, Grace Knudson, Sarah Wood. Three Mustangs earned second team all-conference status, Macey Adley, Claire Murphy and Carly Wright.
Last season at the NCAAs, the Mustangs finished in ninth, the best ever showing in program history. They scored 85 points, an AAC record. The team made the petite final in each of the three competing boats. In the varsity eight, the team had a SMU record-breaking seventh place national finish. They finished the season ranked No. 9 in the Pocock Coaches Poll.
