Full 2024 Season Schedule
DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's soccer team announced its 2024 season schedule on Wednesday. The Mustangs enter their third season under Head Coach
Nicole Nelson, with home matches against Texas, TCU, Baylor, Florida State, Stanford, Syracuse, Boston College and Wake Forest at the Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
"We are ready to play our inaugural season in the ACC," Nelson said. "The schedule we have put together for this fall includes several matchups with NCAA Tournament teams from last fall and will challenge our program to be at our best. It is a historic time to be a part of Women's Soccer at SMU and we are excited."
SMU's 12-match home slate is highlighted by both the 2023 national champions Florida State (Sept. 22) and runner-up Stanford (Oct. 5). The Mustangs will also host Texas (Aug. 22) and Big-12 opponents TCU (Sept. 1) and Baylor (Sept. 5). SMU is 2-0 against Baylor in its last two seasons, most recently defeating the Bears 2-1 in Waco last year.
Rounding out SMU's non-conference play is the Mustangs' season home-opener against Northwestern State (Aug. 15), Texas Southern (Aug. 18), Stephen F. Austin (Aug. 25) and Little-Rock (Aug. 29).
SMU kicks off its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 10 total conference matchups. The Mustangs will open ACC play with home matches versus Syracuse (Sept. 12) and Boston College (Sept. 15), followed by its first road test of the season at Miami (Sept. 19). SMU also hosts ACC opponents Florida State (Sept. 22), Stanford (Oct. 5) and Wake Forest (Oct. 19). The Mustangs will travel for four more conference away matches at Duke (Sept. 27), Virginia Tech (Oct. 10), Virginia (Oct. 13) and Cal (Oct. 27).
The ACC Tournament's first round will begin on Nov. 3 and hosts based on seeding, followed by semifinals and championship at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
SMU capped off its 2023 season with its second consecutive trip to the American Athletic Conference Championship Match falling 2-1 to No. 8 Memphis. The Mustangs finished with an 11-6-1 overall record with, a 4-1-1 home record and were 3-2-0 against Power-4 schools. They received Top 25 votes in five of the United Soccer Coaches team polls throughout the year.
