EUGENE, Ore. (SMU) — Funminiyi Olajide becomes the highest finishing long jumper at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in SMU history. Olajide finished sixth at nationals with a jump of 6.48 meters.
Olajide is the first SMU All-American since 2011 and the first long jump All-American since 2004 — putting another accolade to her name to finish her historic season at SMU.
"Funminiyi had a transformative season," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes. "To see it culminated with a sixth place performance is exciting. She will leave SMU as the school record holder, a conference champion and with the coveted accolade of All-American."
Olajide graduates holding the school record of 6.70 meters.
