2026 Southwest Conference Hall of Fame Class Release
WACO, Texas – Olympic gold medalist and three-time NCAA Champion Kevin Robinzine '87 was selected to the 2026 Southwest Conference Hall of Fame Class, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame announced.
Robinzine was a three-time NCAA Champion and nine-time All-American for SMU track from 1984-87, helping the Mustangs claim the 1986 NCAA Outdoor Championship. He was part of SMU's 1600-meter relay team that won national titles at the 1985 NCAA Indoor Championships, 1986 NCAA Indoor Championships and 1986 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The NCAA relay championships included teammates Tommy Lovelace, Sven Nylander, Roy Martin (2x), Harold Spells (2x) and 2017 SMU Hall of Fame inductee Rod Jones (3x). Robinzine went on to win a gold medal for the United States in the 1600-meter relay at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, equaling the previous world record at 2:56.16.
Robinzine was inducted into the SMU Athletics Hall of Fame on October 10, 2025.
He is joined in the 2026 SWC Hall of Fame class by Barry Foster, Arkansas; Dennis Gentry, Baylor; Lilly Denoon, Houston; Candace Lessmeister-Fredericks, Rice; Corby Robertson, Texas; Edd Hargett, Texas A&M; Raymond Stewart, TCU; and Robert Hall, Texas Tech.
The induction ceremony will take at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

The Southwest Conference Hall of Fame is one of four halls of fame housed within the Texas Sports Hall of Fame museum. It serves as a tribute to the athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors who built the conference's rich tradition of excellence, rivalry and sportsmanship.
