EUGENE, Ore. (SMU) – SMU women's track and field hurdler
Kirin Chacchia broke her own 400m hurdle school record to earn Second Team All-American honors, while
Nea Sanders earned Honorable Mention All-American status in the 100m hurdles at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.

Chacchia gave a performance to remember inside Hayward Field as the junior broke her own school record with a time of 56.68, finishing 15
th overall. She is the first Mustang since Ashton Woods in 2021 to earn second-team All-American honors in the 400m hurdles. It was the junior's first career appearance at the Outdoor Championships.
The 2026 ACC Outdoor 100m hurdles champion, Sanders, left it all on the track to conclude her historic SMU career as she finished tied for 19
th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.19 to earn her honorable mention honors. She is the first Mustang since Jernaya Sharp in 2021 to earn honorable mention in the 100m hurdles. It was the seniors' first career appearance at the Outdoor Championships.
Thursday officially marked the first time since 2021 that SMU had multiple student-athletes compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
