EUGENE, Ore. (SMU) – Four SMU track and field athletes competed at the World Athletics U-20 Championships as
Carolina Correia's 11
th-place finish in the 5000m highlighted the meet for the Mustangs.
Competing for Team Portugal, Correia clocked a personal best time of 16:11.47, finishing 11
th overall. The sophomore was the highest-placing Mustang over the week.
Incoming freshman Destiny Look placed 20
th overall in the heptathlon, scoring 4302 points. Competing for Team USA, her best individual event was the long jump, as she recorded a mark of 5.61m and finished 17
th in the event.
Running for Team New Zealand, incoming freshman Zara Pomfret ran in the 1500m, as she placed 39
th overall with a time of 4:34.02.
Closing out the meet for SMU was the German U-20 triple jump champion, sophomore
Lotta Edzards, who finished 23
rd overall in the triple jump with a mark of 12.68m.
