DALLAS (SMU) – No. 10 SMU Men's Soccer Team resumes its 2024 season by hosting Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. CT, Aug. 25.

The Mustangs are coming off a 1-0 season-opener win over Air Force. They earned the win through Bailey Sparks' match-winner from the penalty spot in the 65th minute.

SMU was one of 10 Atlantic Coast Conference teams to win on opening day. With the win, Kevin Hudson improved his career record to 104-41-17.

Mustangs vs Golden Eagles

• The Mustangs have won all 11 meetings with Oral Roberts. Sunday's match will their 12th meeting in Dallas.
• Oral Roberts was the first team SMU hosted at Washburne Stadium when it opened in 2022. Kyran Pinho made two assists in their 4-0 win over the Eagles (08/25/22), while Jose Ortiz scored a hat trick.
• The Mustangs won their previous meeting 1-0 last year. Jose Ortiz scored the match-winner.
• SMU has scored 27 goals against Oral Roberts while only conceding four goals.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

• Oral Roberts fell 2-3 to No. 22 Kentucky in their season opener. Junior Omar Mora scored a brace in the match.
• The Golden Eagles placed second in the Summit League after closing their 2023 season with a 10-4-3 overall record.

Sparks Fly

• Bailey Sparks opened the Mustangs' 2024 account with his first career penalty kick goal against Air Force (08/22).
• He was included in the United Soccer Coaches Midfielders to Watch List.
• He was named Second Team All-American and American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year.
• Sparks is the 11th Mustang named in the Hermann Trophy Watch List.
• He scored two goals and made five assists for seven goal contributions to earn All-American honors.
• Sparks started in all 19 matches for the Mustangs in 2023 clocking 1578 minutes in the red and blue.

First Chance, First Clean Sheet

• Chance Johnson made his first appearance as a Mustang, earning the nod to start on goal on SMU's 1-0 season opener win over Air Force.
• He made two saves to earn his first career win and a clean sheet for SMU.

From Bogota, Colombia

• Daniel Escorcia and Oral Roberts' Juan Moreno came from Bogota, Colombia.
• They used to play together and then against each other in their hometown. 

Inaugural ACC Season

• The Mustangs entered their inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference and were picked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and No. 8 in the ACC Preseason Poll.
• They will have their ACC debut when they host Pitt on Sept. 7.

Mustangs vs. the ACC

• The Mustangs have a 21-8-6 record against current ACC teams.
• Hudson has a 2-6-0 record against current ACC teams.
• SMU's last meeting with a team in the ACC was against No. 1 Virginia in third round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. In that same year where they lost 3-2 in extra time. In that same year, SMU won 2-0 at Duke.
• In 2017, SMU played No. 7 North Carolina in the third round of the NCAA Tournament and lost 2-0.
• Their latest meeting against a current ACC team was at Stanford in 2022 where they lost 3-1.
