SETTING THE SCENE
• SMU looks to bounce back after the bye week in the 103rd Battle for the Iron Skillet with TCU on Saturday, Sept. 21.
• The Mustangs saw their nine-game home winning streak come to a close in a 18-15 loss to BYU on Sept. 6.
• SMU saw junior kicker Collin Rogers set a program record with five made field goals in the game, highlighted by two from 50-plus. 
Brashard Smith led the team in rushing with 75 yards on 14 carries, his third straight game over 70 yards rushing on less than 15 attempts. 
• Club Takeaway continued to be in business, forcing three turnovers for a second straight contest in the loss to the Cougars. 

QUICK HITS
• The Mustangs are 9-1 in their last 10 home games at Ford Stadium going back to 2022. 
Collin Rogers set a new single-game record with five made field goals against BYU (53, 52, 38, 28, 45), highlighted by a career-long 53-yarder. 
• Rogers is tied for the lead in the nation in made field goals with eight. 
• SMU's defense has continued to force turnovers this year, ranking 15th in the country with six turnovers forced. 
• The Mustangs have had at least seven receivers catch a pass in 20 straight games, dating back to at Tulane on Nov. 17, 2022.

THE SERIES
• This is the 103rd meeting in the Battle for the Iron Skillet, with the Horned Frogs leading 53-42-7.
• TCU has won the last two meetings in the series. 
• SMU was last victorious on Sept. 25, 2021, a 42-34 victory in Fort Worth.
• The Mustangs last won in Dallas on Sept. 10, 2005, a 21-10 victory.   

ABOUT THE HORNED FROGS
• TCU is 2-1 on the season. 
• The Horned Frogs fell to UCF, 35-34 in their last game. 
• TCU is 2-4 in its last six road contests dating back to 2023. 

THE COACHES
Rhett Lashlee is in his third season as the head coach at SMU and has a 20-10 career record. Lashlee, who served as offensive coordinator for the Mustangs for two seasons (2018-19), also served as the offensive coordinator at Miami in 2020 and 2021. A one-time finalist (2013) and two-time semifinalist (2019, 2020) for the Broyles Award, Lashlee has the distinction of being the only coach ever nominated for the Broyles Award four different times at four different schools (Arkansas State, Auburn, SMU, Miami).

• Lashlee was named a finalist last season for the prestigious Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award, handed out the nation's top coach as voted on by the National Sports Media Association, the Bryant Awards' Executive Leadership Team, and the Bryant Family. The Arkansas native was also named Co-Coach of the Year by the Dave Campbell's Texas Football publication, a finalist of the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, and a semi-finalist for Coach of the Year Award by the Maxwell Football Club for the job he did in 2023.

• Sonny Dykes is in his third season at TCU and has a record 20-10 with the program and a 91-73 overall career record. 

THE IRON SKILLET
• During the post-World War II college football boom, the SMU and TCU student bodies created a traveling trophy called the Iron Skillet that was presented to the winner of the annual football game between the archrivals. The tradition eventually died, and the skillet was lost.

• In 1993, however, the tradition was revived as the president of the SMU student body painted the face of the TCU student body president red and blue following the Mustangs' 21-15 victory in Fort Worth. The engraved skillet is presented to the winning team after each game.

ROGERS THAT
Collin Rogers had himself a career day against BYU on Sept. 6. 
• The junior set a new program record for made field goals in a game, going 5-for-5. 
• Rogers made kicks of 53, 52, 38, 28 and 45 yards. 
• The 53-yarder was a career long and tied for fourth longest in program history. 
• Rogers was rewarded for his play, being named a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week for Week 2 (Sept. 10).

HOME SWEET HOME
• SMU is 25-5 at home since the start of the 2019 season, which included a 6-0 mark in 2023, a 5-1 record in 2021 and a 6-0 record in 2019.
• SMU set a record for the largest regular season attendance in Ford Stadium at the Sept. 24, 2022 contest against TCU with 35,569 fans, including a record 4,590 students.
