DALLAS (SMU) – [RV/25] SMU is set to host a double-dual meet against [RV/-] Arizona and TCU on Thursday, October 30 at 4 p.m. and Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m. at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.
The last time the Mustangs and the Horned Frogs met was last season in Fort Worth, Texas where TCU defeated SMU 168.5-131.5. As for the Wildcats, the two teams last competed against each other in 2022, with Arizona winning the dual 179.5-115.5.
In their most recent meet against No. 23 Texas A&M, the Mustangs took home seven event wins. The squad of Jack Berube, Kristaps Mikelsons, Sage Sungail and Benjamin Chateigner claimed the victory in the first event, defeating the Aggies with a time of 3:10.81. Jack Berube earned his second victory of the night in the 100 back, throwing down a time of 47.32. The next day, Berube took home a win in the 200 back after touching the wall in 1:43.07.
Luke Sitz swept both diving events for the second meet in a row, scoring a 375.23 mark on 3-meter and a 359.03 on 1-meter. His performances earned him Co-ACC Diver of the Week accolades. Freshman Francis Brennan claimed the win in the 200 free, throwing down a time of 1:36.73. Taking the victory in the final event of the meet, the team of Benjamin Chateigner, Harold Lockhart, Francis Brennan and Sage Sungail recorded a time of 2:54.06.Â
Currently, the Mustangs have five performances on this season's NCAA top-25 times list. In the 800 free relay, the squad consisting of Sungail/Chateigner/Forrest/Brennan currently holds 16th place in the nation and third in the ACC with a time of 6:25.10. The team of Chateigner/Lockhart//Brennan/Sungail threw down a time of 2:54.06 in the 400 free relay, earning them 17th nationally. Jack Berube ranks 25th in the 200 back nationally, touching the wall in 1:43.07. In the nation, Luke Sitz holds seventh place on 1-meter (389.10) and first place on 3-meter (408.25), both conference-leading performances.
