GREENSBORO, N.C. (SMU) – Mustangs' freshman
Luke Sitz made history on Tuesday evening by earning a silver medal on 3-meter as SMU Men's Swimming & Diving concluded day one of the ACC Championships at Greensboro Aquatics Center.

SMU currently sits in ninth after scoring 106 on the opening night of the five-day competition.

200 Medley Relay
The Mustangs relay of
Jack Berube,
Joe Rusnock,
Russell Exum and
Sage Sungail opened up the swimming portion of the ACC Championships with a time of 1:24.53 to take 10th.

800 Free Relay
For the second time this season, SMU's relay squad of
Jack Hoagland,
Jack Forrest,
Chris Mykkanen and
Harold Lockhart threw down an NCAA 'A' cut of 6:15.42 to place eighth in the loaded field.

3-Meter Diving
During finals,
Luke Sitz made SMU history by becoming the first member of the program to medal at the ACC Championships on his first try. The freshman posted a score of 420.50 to earn silver, just 1.4 points shy of the gold. His score was catapulted by an 83.60 on a Forward 4 1/2 Somersault Tuck during his penultimate dive.

Sitz punched his ticket to the finals with a score of 394.95 during prelims.
John Dymond saw a score of 296.55.

SMU will continue competition at the ACC Championships tomorrow, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT in Greensboro. Tomorrow's prelim action will feature the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 Free and 1-meter diving. Finals will begin at 4:30 p.m. CT at the GAC with finals of the prelim events along with the 200 free relay.
